Hedgehog?
Curious how "Hedgehog Hill" came to be named in New Hampshire. Hedgehogs, native to Europe and Asia, are not found on this side of the world.
(Not as bad as Akwa Vista or Loon...

Don't worry, they're still far away.
Looks like we arachnophobes at the Forum missed "an unusual 2004 event" found this morning in the Citizen:

Unfortunately? Isn't it important to anchor a respect for "the Lake the way it once was"?
However "peaceful and friendly" a newbie Lake user may consider himself -- whether boat, PWC, or...

Exaggerating...from a photograph?

A "Special Tax Report" appeared this morning in the Citizen on-line. Towns around the Big Lake are discussed. :look:
For example: Last year, Moultonborough's new lakefronts added $1,000,000,000...

Last winter, a dark-blue barge temporarily "uglified" a residential area near me. (It was intentionally sunk at a damaged-dock work site for the winter).
When the ice melted in April, they pumped...

Big Boats: A Winnipesaukee "Cultural Impact" ?
Winnipesaukee is fortunate to be an oligotrophic lake. (It could "stay good" for years).
But abuses can "force" a good lake into a eutrophic lake -- a dying lake.
Here's what nhlakes.org...

Hoyle's Rules:
If it's only cosmetic, remember that some repairs don't always go "according to Hoyle's". (Or Murphy's Law).
If it's not distorted and there's no gearlube leak, consider filing/sanding the rough...

Aha...BLACK smoke.
1) The tank could even have been empty at the time, but a full tank of diesel fuel possibly could have survived the fire around it, especially if fire hoses were directed on it. (But it doesn't look...

Angling in The Smile of the Great Spirit article

But the article makes interesting reading even for former...

Not waves... wakes.
That makes sense -- but only from a Gilford perspective. The biggest whitecaps are produced by winds from the Northwest on Winnipesaukee.
Me too, but then I have always picked my weather.

Yeah, you're right -- 1938 Hurricane. Senior moment.
Maples too. It must have been much worse than Hurricane Bob. "Bob" only caused all the big pines around the lake to lean. (Including mine).

I recall a dog-sled operator being granted "peaceful solitude" by a snowmobile last year.
