Smile New Hampshire Humane Society Auction

You may or may not know that I am a volunteer at the New Hampshire Humane Animal Shelter in Laconia. This year NHHS will be having an 'Animal Lovers Auction' Sunday, April 9th at the Belknap Mill in downtown Laconia. All proceeds will benefit the welfare of the shelter animals at NHHS.

It is amazing how many people give various donations to NHHS, but what's more amazing is the number of unwanted and abandoned animals. The shelter goes through more cases of bleach in a month than you and I will in a lifetime when laundering the animal beds and blankets. Not only do the animals not yet have their 'forever home' many do not have toys to play with. Things we all take for granted like kitten treats or dog bones, are not common place at the shelter unless they are donated or purchased with donated funds. But I'm sure you can guess that treats and bones are not first on the shopping list when donated funds are being distributed.

Now the part you have all been anticipating - my solicitation.

I would like to ask each of you to look in to your attics, basements, closets, garages and hearts to see if there are items you would like to donate to this auction. Maybe you have a craft, hobby or particular talent and would like to donate one of your own creations to the auction. Maybe you own a business or know someone who does and you could solicit a gift certificate from the business to donate. All of these are great ways to contribute. Some of the items will be featured on the NHHS website in March promoting the auction.

If you would like to contribute or know someone who would, please let me know of your items by February 24th. If you have photos of the items you can send me, that would be great. I would need to make arrangements with you to receive the item by April 1st. Please remember all donations are tax deductible.

In anticipation, I thank you for your time, consideration and contributions. If you are unable to contribute at this time, that's ok, maybe you w ill consider making a contribution at another point in time. Maybe you will join us on April 9th and be the winning bidder on some great items!!!

Thank you!

The details of the Auction are;
  • Preview time on the Sunday from 1-2p.m.
  • Silent auction running concurrently
  • Live auction begins at 2p.m.
  • Event finishes at 4p.m.
