I just spoke with a very reliable source who told me that the permit requirement for installing a raft on the lake has been terminated. I guess there was a flood of complaints. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

I dont believe there has been a permit needed for rafts in a long while, if ever. There was discussions for a short period of time about having to register them with the state but that was short lived.

Indeed, the was a year where they tried to implement this.... I happened to be at the MP office, getting my registration stickers that year and talked briefly with them about it... the bottom line, was what had looked like a reasonable idea, turned into a nightmare, as they were flooded with applications for permits.

But you bring up a good point.
When we find a raft blowing by and rescue it, we really appreciate the folks who took the time to write their name, address and phone number on it. Edit: Of course, if it's a big yellow one, we cut the panel with the information out with a knife to make the call. |
