Maybe some bridges would bring in more tourists.. like this one I saw this past week in Willimantic, CT... I literally couldn't wait to get to my hotel that night to get online and figure out what was up with this bridge. Pretty cool!

Smile Could Be A Toll Bridge As Well...

Hey Steve, that is a fine bridge!... For some,
Say, if you didn't read your owners manual, forgot to check your oil and your BMW's engine seized up on that bridge?... Oh, the headaches just got worse if your car quit!... They would run a cable around them spools and tow you off so's to let the rest have free passage!

Only kidding, of course.

Terry

Come by around Christmas time and the frogs are all wearing big red scarves!

We don't live too far from that bridge - it's always fun to bring out of town visitors over there for a look-see.

There was talk in the 50s and 60s of a bridge across the lake. The most popular idea as I recall and I may be wrong was Tuftonboro to Cow Is. and somehow across from there. Can you imagine trying to get the permits today for a bridge like that???? Would never happen!

Default lockes

My dad once told me that they had a plan to build lockes from greenbay to Alton Bay and you would have access to the ocean. If I recall he told me that about the same time they brought the Winni Bell from Portsmouth to Alton Bay. Just think of the cost of that. And apparently someone other than the gov't did for they did not build it!

Tis true tis. Yes there were plans to link Tuftonboro Neck to Cow, Cow to Devens Devens to Little Bear and Little Bear to Long Island. How different would that be huh? So from Tuftonboro you'd have been able to cut off the drive all the way up Moultonboro through downtown. Interesting to think about.
