Default Wolfeboro Area Restaurants?

Any suggestions for a nice dinner for two; would prefer lakeside, but atmosphere and food quality are more important. Don't mind driving 20 minutes or so.

Checked the "search" function first, and not much came up

Thanks

Default waterfront

If the two important things are Wolfeboro, and waterfront, you should probably put Garwoods at the top of the list.
Food and service both above average.

I have to agree with sa meredith. My wife and I have been going to Garwoods since they opened back in 2001 (I think) and we've never had a bad meal there. The food's always been fresh, served hot (or cold, depending on your order) and the staff has always been attentive. I'm sure we'll be going there next week when we're up on vacation!

Default Mise en Place

Mise en Place is a small, off-the-water, restaurant in Wolfeboro with outstanding food and a very nice atmosphere. Have been there a few times and was never disappointed. It's on Lehner St, which if you are coming by boat, is about a quarter-mile walk I would guess. Very creative and fresh menu items and a nice wine list. It immediately jumped to mind when you said "quality" and "atmosphere" were important.

I have to agree with Long Pine. If you want someplace really special with wonderful food all the way you can't miss with Mise en Plece. Everything is absolutely wonderful there. It is a bit pricey but all delicious. For instance the shrimp appetizer is 11.95 for four. We have been there twice recently and both times could not be beat. The second time was for a rehearsal dinner which, as you know, can be tough to serve a lot of people, but everything was wonderful. So if you want a really special place to go, I don't know anyone who has anything bad to say about the place.

Here's another quality place you might consider for a unique dining experience.
EAST of SUEZ

Default 51 Mill Street

If you get a nice night (kind of a rarity these days) sitting out back on 51 Mill Street's beach by the Back Bay is always a nice experience.

Based on the posts I've read on this site, I doubt tis and I agree on much... but when it comes to Mise en Place, we're on the same page. It's definitely a splurge, but nothing compares for top-notch cuisine & service in Wolfeboro. We also enjoy East of Suez as often as possible in summer. East of Suez is BYOB and they do not accept credit cards, so bring cash. Reservations are a must at both places.

Default vote for 51 Mill or Wolfetrap

We like both; Wolfetrap for more fish and lobster and 51 Mill for a little nicer more upscale menu. Both are on the Back Bay

The Restaurant in the Wolfeboro Market Place is really super . For a new place in town they really have their act together both in service and cuisine.
Would highly recommend. Nice atmosphere on the terrace.

Thumbs up Cider Press

I agree with the Cider Press being consistently good. Enough on the menu to keep you going. They have pillows for the chairs.

Cider Press is a close 2nd. Been around along time which speaks volumes in the restaurant bizz and the town of Wolfeboro.

Default Free Lunch

There was an ad in the Granite State News today that said "The Restaurant" is having a grand opening today. Free lunch and some specials tonight.
Also, heard that Rob (familiar face, formerly of Garwoods) is now a partner and managing the place.
