Laconia Historical seeking assistance with motel history project

Curators of the exhibit "Are We There Yet? a history of roadside motels and cabin colonies" invite the public to attend an informal round-table discussion about Laconia's historic motels and cottages on Monday, August 10, 2009, at the Laconia Public Library at 7:00 pm.

We encourage current and former motel owners from the Weirs Beach and Lakeport area to attend this program and share what they know about the history of ownership of any particular business as well as dates of operation, old photographs and favorite memories.... Information is being accumulated and collected for preservation in the archives of the Laconia Historical & Museum Society and will be used to create a driving tour brochure for the public highlighting these significant historic sites.
