Raymarine

Anyone here familiar with or have a Raymarine C or E series multifunction chartplotter / GPS / fishfinder?? Thinking about having one installed but it is a large investment and would like to hear any positive or negatives. Basically the unit I want would have everything except radar but fully compatible to accept it.

Raymarine OR Furno are the best. Look no further than those 2.

I have had both the C series and the E series.
They both are excellent and when you have the correct chart in either they will provide excellent color detail of the lake.
The E series offers the ability to have a 3-D display of the lake as well as a video display for a camera system. They both will handle Radar (which I have) and the radar can be overlayed right over the chart.
I would say unless you really need the 3-d or video feature go with the c series.

Shop around, I found a C120 unit on E-bay slighty used for about one third of the original cost.

I am a die hard fan of Standard Horizon. The new ones are compatible with Sitex or Furuno radars (maybe others) I believe, plus you get the better cartography of the CMap bizer chip. I assume this is for the new Eastern?

Look at the CP300I, it has an internal antenna, FF520 black box fish finder compatible, video input for a camera, and VHF radio connectivity as well as radar connectivity.

I run the CP180I in the Maxum and have had the 155C and 175C before.

Look online, you will get a much better deal than locally. The internal antenna makes hookup a breeze, only power and ground to deal with.

They also make a CPV350 and CPV550 which have the built in VHF and hailer. I like the look of the CPV550 with the 12" screen. Since you are not limited on dash space you are wide open.

The unit I am looking at is the new C90 widescreen. The price I have been quoted to supply and install is through the roof. I know what the basic unit sells for (about $2300.00) all thats left is cables, transducer and labor and the total price is literally more than three times the basic unit cost. I can't imagine those additional items can be that expensive.

Can anyone tell me about what this should cost for a complete setup with labor. I don't mind paying for material markup and honest labor charges but I was in shock when I got the quote.

Codeman, yes this is for the new Eastern, and Easterns are a very simple boat to work and install stuff on. We do a lot of night time boating and feel a setup like this with radar eventually will be a good safe investment for us.

Who is quoting you that??? Navtronics or someone in the lakes region?

It is a pretty easy job to do, if you can handle the canvas on the Manitou I am sure you could do that.

I get a commercial discount at West Marine, if you need items that they carry I may be able to help. The discount on electronics is almost nil, but accessories are a decent savings.

I've had two Raymarine chartplotters and they both went belly up. Went with Lowrance (which has a better reliability rating) and never looked back. Using the HDS unit with Navionics chart and love it. Has full capabilities to hook up other devices via onboard network, including upcoming side-scan sonar! Navionics chart of the lake is by far the best for fishing as it has detailed bottom cartography.
