IMHO, if you would say it to a bunch of first or second graders, then as an exclamation, it is probably OK. PIMP, a good example. LMAO, maybe not.
WT*, definately not.

I am not a prude, but I would prefer to use "it" only in company that I am totally familiar with, and not loud enough to offend anyone else. (I am not offended, just would not use it here on the forum).
Again, JMHO.
