Because of the noise made by a politically-well-connected boat salesman, tailpipe-exhaust noise measurement on the lake was changed two years ago.
If Captain's Choice were to be allowed, the previous decibel level would have to be restored and the tailpipe-exhaust noise measurement returned to "drive-bys" measurement. (Measuring noise at the dock has spawned a cottage industry to cheat on compliance with the tailpipe-exhaust noise standard). ![]() The trouble with "drive-bys" is that boat speeds have gotten so fast, that "drive-by" measure for tailpipe-exhaust noise itself has been gradually disallowed by many law enforcement agencies—as a danger to themselves! ![]() | ...and those LEOs are in the Flatlands, where they won't ever hear The Loon—which, among other sounds, can echo and reecho softly among New Hampshire's lakes and mountains. ![]() ![]() | |
