[QUOTE=sunset on the dock;111544] text I left out the end part so you could see it. If I were to put the following /QUOTE inside these brackets [ ] at the end of the quoted statement or in this case the word "text" it would look like this: So that allows you to manually quote someone by going back in the thread, which by the way is conveniently underneath the text box you are typing in, and cut and paste quotes that you want to use. All you have to do is wrap the text in: [QUOTE=sunset on the dock;111544] followed by /QUOTE inside these brackets [ ] That's how I do it but I am not sure it is the easy way. |

Why no more multi-quote?
I would imagine that some folks abused it.

Multi-Quoting for Dummies
I just use the quote function and use the copy function to snag the quote. Next I use the "back" button to ignore out of it and go back to the thread. Then I use the quote button on the second post and paste the first quote into that window. Then paraphrase and add comments as desired.
Good luck! |

More Thoughts = More Multi-Quotes...
If there is any feature that is abused in abundance, it is the "Quote" feature!
If you're going to add a reply directly after the previous post, why quote the previous quote? When the need arises to address more than one thought here, you'll notice the Webmaster uses the multi-quote feature. |

I Think I'm Being Insulted, But...
...I can't be certain...
(...and one has disappeared...! ) As I'm sure Don will acknowledge, I "sorta" invented the multi-quote before it became a forum application here—and applied it similarly as Hazelnut has described it. The multi-quote button appeared more widespread later and can be found on the tiniest forums on the Internet. (Bradley Green Entertainment, for example). Those who can't master the multi-quote can cause a different "problem": On one recent page, one member has ended up with 80% of the replies! (I'd previously described that entire thread as a "Vanity" and a "chatroom"—"chat" being discouraged in the rules here). Without multi-quoting—a single page has one member's replies saying essentially the same thing! (and are 40% of the replies on that page ). As some of us noted, the absense of "multi-quote" didn't stop member elchase. (My own most-recent replies use a morphed, and "kinder-and-gentler" multi-quote). As for myself, I've failed to master the entry into this site's "Blog" pages, which could greatly shorten all of our replies. (Just by using the hyper-link feature to link to those entries). Anyway, "The Story of My Life on the Internet" is best illustrated below: |
