Unfortunately, I don't think that high gas prices and/or lousy weather are the whole story. There seem to be a number of folks that are trying to make Winni less than welcoming to boaters (read: vacationers) and/or to restrict boater access. Take a look at the thread concerning Braun Bay, or the recent threads concerning Ames Farm; they're perfect examples. Not that either of those situations would necessarily be a "show stopper" for somebody looking for a place to vacation; but, the way things are with the economy these days, it may not take all that much to tip the scales toward staying home. Honestly, I've been surprised that local businessmen in the hospitality industry have been greeting things that may have a negative effect on their livelihoods with yawns rather than "tar-and-feathers".
