Talking Snowmobiling

We took the sleds out for the first time this year. On Friday we were on Alton Bay and on Saturday on Meredith Bay. The sledding in Meredith was much better than in Alton.

It got a little scary around Eagle Island, because I did not know the depth on the ice there. In Meredith, ice fishermen reported about 15 inches of ice.

We mostly went up and down the bay many times just enjoying being out there. I am unfamiliar with trails in the ares so we will wait to go there with friends who know better.

I see that someone did go past my place on Rattlesnake.. see Snake Eyes for the sled marks! We headed advice and did not go there yesterday.

Happy Sledding

You know, that olde lighthouse must belong to Phantom Gourmand and it's the house with the leaky wet crawl space. Leaky crawl space.....but a super location....on a very sunny day.....good-going....Island Girl! ...

IG - The area around Eagle and Governors had at least a foot of ice. I rode up Meredith bay from Spindle Point and then took the trail up and over 15 to Center Harbor and just because I didn't feel like trekking back up over the hill I decided to take the lake all the way from Center Harbor to Meredith. I went from Center Harbor towards Patrician Shores and then by Y Landing no wake zone across in between Bear Island and Meredith Neck and around the point of Meredith Neck (a tad sketchy there) and then back to Spindle point. I saw lots of activity along the way and all seemed ok. I saw a man walking off the point of Meredith Neck near the sketchy area. The ice in that area is always really rough for some reason. As has been said on here use caution but I believe most of the bays and smaller areas are locked up pretty good. I would be wary of large open areas like the broads and the northern broads area.

Did you skim my neighbor's open water at the very end of first Meredith neck after passing Horse Island. It's looking like a popular skimming spot....just follow the tracks. Carefull you don't come too close to the ice pilings.....a couple close calls today.
