Default Love that groundhog!

Sorry. But as a true NH native, I embraced winter. Plenty of sledding, skiing, skating and snowshoeing to be had. Don't forget your Bag balm!

YES! Now if only Mother Nature will cooperate and DUMP SOME SNOW!!! I mean seriously folks we're stuck with the cold air we might as well get the snow so we can all enjoy our respective outdoor activities.

Default Snow Dance

I'm on my way outside to do a snow dance. With free skiing at Cannon I want to get my money's worth. Some snow on the ice will also make a walk over to Welch much easier.

Good call Phil

Happy Candlemas everyone. And for any pagans, a good Imbolc to you too!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imbolc

Quote:
Imbolc is traditionally a time of weather prognostication, and the old tradition of watching to see if serpents or badgers came from their winter dens is perhaps a precursor to the Northern American Groundhog Day.

Imbolc is also named as the day the Cailleach, where the hag of Gaelic tradition gathers her firewood for the rest of the winter. Legend has it that if she intends to make the winter last a good while longer, she will make sure the weather on Imbolc is bright and sunny, so she can gather plenty of firewood. Therefore, it is seen as a good omen if Imbolc is a day of foul weather, as it means the Cailleach is asleep and winter is almost over.

Default good stuff

Hey, CC, thanks for that link. With Scottish blood in my veins, maybe thats why I have always been drawn to the tenents of paganism. Believing in Mother Nature works for me.

Default Punxatawney Phil Rules!

Bring on the snow, Phil. Might as well enjoy our winter sports while we wait for summer (and, before that, the always-fun Mud Season)

The cold arctic air masses are what's keeping the snows out of here.

I'm getting tired of shoveling a 1/2" or less off my sidewalk, but local law requires it. I can't use the Toro on this amount. My DD is living in Wash DC and they are expecting their next big Snow storm of the season, 6"-12"!!! They have had close to a foot of snow already. Do you get the message Washington DC? Mother Nature says there is NO Global Warming! This type of snowfall in DC is unheard of!
