China Bistro ???
Rated 33 out of 1000 of the BEST Chinese Restaurants in the World??
That's a pretty ambitious statement. I haven't tried it, nor have I seen any comments on it in the Forum except for a few some years back. In previous years, the parking lot always seemed empty when I passed by. Seems to be a few cars there this year so maybe that's a good thing? Is there anybody out there who can share their experience at the China Bistro? |

Not to beat a dead eggroll (from the earlier thread)...but this rating is basically bogus and related to a trade magazine. Similar to the "ten best" steakhouses or seafood restaurants such as you see in the airline magazines. Having said that, I have no idea about the China Bistro as I have never been there.

Went to the Bistro twice last year and had really good food and service the first time and better than buffet food the second time. Inside the place is nice. The wait staff is always ready for you, because there is never anyone there. We will probably try it again this year.

The staff...
Actually, the staff has just been entirely turned over from what I understand. From what I've heard (I know ex-bartenders), a Boston company has bought out the bar area and removed all of the existing staff! Apparently, they wanted to start fresh with 'their own' staff! I cannot say what the status of any restaurant-only servers might have been.
IMHO They need to do some intense marketing with great cuisine if they want to get the place going again. I always see an empty parking lot. |

I don't know what the food is like these days. I hope it's better than it was in the past. Last time I took guests there to eat, it was, shall we say, underwhelming.

Advertising , advertising....
For a well-connected restauranteur like this person with Yan Can Cook....he could get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, too......and a slight fee of $25,000.....the parking lot would still be almost empty. ( Gene Autry is the only one with five stars on the walk...one for each category they are nominated for) One should try the mentioned restaurant....have tried 5 in this region and China Bistro is easily the best....

foods terrible
Went once, got takeout for lunch. Wouldn't bother with them again with other options so close to choose from.

Yuk Sum Dat Place
Absolutely one of the worst places for Chinese food I've ever been. The ratings are beyond bogus. The place was dirty, the staff was very rude, and the only reason I hung around was because it was the only place open late and I'd worked all day - I was getting take out. YUK!

Horrible Food and service
I agree, their food was absolutely awful the last time we tried it (which was about 2 months ago). If you want great Chinese food I would try either China Garden in Belmont or Taipei Osaka in Gilford (the old West Lake). Both are FANTASTIC!

Haven't tried this place, but I'll say that Phu Jee in Meredith (behind Mill Falls) is my favorite Chinese food in the area. Been eating there and ordering take-out for the better part of 15 years. The proprietors are very nice as well.

I second China Garden in Belmont and also like Green Ginger in Tilton.

Phu Jee is our favorite in the area as well. Small family business also, andI also agree about being friendly. Love the all white chicken breast in the General Gau's, best I've ever had.

I agree Phu Jee is excellent. I got take out about a month ago from China bistro, the food was not good, the portions were small and it was expensive.
