Fox Kits in my backyard....Video.
I know this will get moved to the Pets and wildlife, but thought I would post it here because I know not everyone goes the the wildlife section.
There are five of the Kits living under there. There is one very small but very feisty kit that I believe to be the lone female in the bunch. (She is the darker, very small one in the video that gets beat up a bit going for the squirrel.) The mother brought home a dead squirrel that the kits played with for a while until one of them decided it was his. Then the mother fox tried to take it back and that little kit fought to keep it... Fun to watch them. Sorry about the quality but I shot it through the bathroom window screen. Hopefully OK to link a youtube video. I didn't want to embed it so just click the link.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdyUtMCudE4 |

Terrific video! The quality is just fine. Had an adult fox walk through my back yard a few mornings ago and I thought, "Watch out, chipmunks!"

Great video, I wonder if Mom caught the squirrel and this is her way a "training" the kits. Fascinating seeing nature at work.

Nice video, I like that they are controlling the rodent population.
I will take a couple of them to help with the may red squirrells we have around our place on Bear. |

Fox are so much fun to watch. My parents have a den just off the back of their lawn that gets use every year. My kids have the ability to view wildlife from the sunroom all spring and summer.
Watching my father try to outsmart the kits to keep them out of the garden always adds an extra bit of fun to the summer as well. It can be un-nerving sometimes when the parents just maintain laying about when you are in the yard working. Don't want either side to get to comfortable with the other. Once and a while you have to remind them that they should be afraid of people and give a load clap when the parent and kits get to close. Great video, thanks. |

Wow, you must have esp or something. I came home today and tried to straighten up some of my flower beds. All these clouds and rain are starting to kill off my flowers and such. So as I get stuff put straight, pull out some leaves, I sit at my table. Low and behold there is one of the parents sitting in the woods about 20 feet away. Just laying there almost sleeping like but watching me work. So I just went back about my chores and when I was done it got up and walked deeper into the woods....I said "Gee thanks for the help", but off it went.
