That's odd because I've been there about 1/2 dozen times and the 3 or 4 times I ordered the super beef it came on a toasted onion roll......

Default Onion roll

An onion roll normally is part of any super beef (though not smaller sizes), though if you ask for one it should certainly be optional........

Who made that rule of onion rolls? Normal is a subjective term.

True, I would call it normal if one is used to seeing the same thing wherever they go. Of course there are regional preferences, but in N. MA I have had to skip Super Beefs as I can't stand onion rolls (medium beefs only for me). But everywhere (by that I mean the 5 or 6 RB places we have by us) defaults to an onion roll on Super Beefs.

Not to say it's a law, but it seems pretty universal down here. I wouldn't say to call 911 if you don't get one, but RB and onion rolls seem to go hand in hand.

Now, if horseradish isn't offered as a condiment I would certainly call shenanigans.

Onion roll aside the beef just had very little flavor. I will give it a second chance b/c that is what i would normally do anyway but I am not optimistic.

If it happens to be while rolling out of the Gringo I will be sure to scale my tasting experience & expectations.

Default Always got an onion roll

I am very surprised to hear that some people have not gotten an onion roll with their roast beef sandwich. I have been there about 3, maybe 4 times and had the roast beef sandwich every time. It always came on an onion roll even without my asking. I actually commented the first time that I was surprised that they did not ask first if I wanted an onion roll. I loved it on onion roll and will always get it that way. I only got the roast beef the first time (usually a chicken salad eater) because someone I was with had already had one and said it was the best they ever had. I don't know if onion rolls are the norm with roast beef but I loved it. The owner, a big, muscley, kind of scary looking, althought handsome guy, was a powder puff! He was very sweet and very funny. I look forward to going back just to joke with him again. Don't let his muscles and tatoos scare you. He is very sweet!

Nice wise crack. Obviously your place. The mushroom burger special said with fries. It should have said with 10 fries I guess.

No comment on the less than super size for a super beef? or the cold roast beef which is suprising since as you say you cook them daily. Did it cool off already by lunchtime?

And it's owners like you that drive a stake into the heart of your restaurant.

I hope you are better at cooking than you are at customer appreciation, but based on your 'tude I'll never find out.

Open mouth, insert foot ...

Default Sunday hours

I went to the Weirs last Sunday hoping to try one of the roast beef sandwhiches. Alas, it was closed at 6pm. The sign in the window with the hours said Sunday 11 to close. Apparently they close whenever they want on Sunday. All the other restaurants were still open and there was still a pretty good crowd there. I guess they don't need the business that badly.

I have always been curious about those signs that some places post. Open Sunday 11 to close. Really? You are open until you close?

A bit of advice for the restaurant (and other places) owners out there. Pick your hours, and go with it. People like consistency. If you say you will be open until 8PM, stay open until that time. Saying that you are staying open until you close is like me saying that I am going to stay awake until I fall asleep.

Thumbs up It's not just Roast Beef either

The Steak and Cheese is AWESOME too.
Dunno what they season the meat with, but WOW, the flavor is something special. I've had it as is and one with peppers, onions and mushrooms and can't choose a favorite. Now when I go, I flip a coin for RB or S&C, then again for with or w/o veggies.
The Sunday random closing time is my only gripe cuz by the time we get off the water and get cleaned up, we've been too late to catch them open.

(Always had my RB on an onion roll, by the way. Maybe they were sold out of them when the others went?)

Default Good sandwich!

I have eaten at Weirs the Beef several times. I usually get the super beef and the onion rolls make them even better. The food is great and the owner is a nice guy too. He is sarcastic and quick witted but I enjoy the banter.

If you are very sensitive you might take offense, but you shouldn't. He is a very well known "local" who actually did stone work on the statue that is beside the Weirs Channel. He also did the stone work on the lighthouse located in the miniature golf course beside the channel. He has been in this area for a very long time. He is a highly regarded member of the Weirs Beach community and remember, when all of the tourists are gone this is a very small community!

All of the local business owners know him well and enjoy his sense of humor. He is quite a character!

I read his post and actually laughed, I saw the humor in it. He was not being mean but funny. I guess laughter has lost its place at times.

My wife and I were up over the weekend. We won't be back until early November. We had our "fix" of Weirs the Beef rb sandwiches before heading home. Wonderful as usual. I do hope they return next year.

I'm always amused when I see someone write that Weirs the Beef isn't as good as Kelley's in Revere. I love Kelley's. They have a delicious rb sandwich. But guess what? Their not in Weirs Beach. Weirs the Beef puts out a really delicious rb sandwich. That's what I use to measure whether I go back to an establishment or not.

So, Tommy, enjoy your winter in Florida. I look forward to seeing you next year!

Yes Tommy will be back next yr if he stays away from those alligators. You should see how close his boat comes to them. He might be swimming with them this year, thinks they are friendly. Yeah Tommy we love ya

Default Really?

I love these petty things

We continue to have questionable contributions on multiple threads from this owner/contributer, and have multiple folks chiming in to either voice displeasure or (less often) to offer token defense.

After each criticle post there are numerous defenders with single digit post histories that chime in randomly that WTB is the best.......in the WTB thread that is, not the thread where the criticism originates. In the recent past there were certain 'gramatical similarities' in these posts, if you get me.

I dont discredit posters strictly because they are new, but that many in so short a time on the same topic? Please........

Who needs a map drawn? I'll call Bizer if you like....
