You can use a droid and probably some blackberry's for a mobile hotspot for around $20 per month.

I picked one up on ebay last summer for $60. You can call Verizon and have them activate it with a pay as you go service. Its a bit more per Megabite, but no contract. On an annual basis a big savings since I only use mine for 4 months a year. BTW, works great on Cow Is.
