I believe the bank still owns the volcano water slide property. They may rent it to the former owners for the season as they did last year.

It may be closed during the 9 motorcycle show days so they can rent out as much space as possible to the bike crowd vendors.

Here is the story on who owns the slide.....

LACONIA, N.H. -- A water slide that is one of the last remaining attractions near New Hampshire's Weirs Beach on Lake Winnipesaukee has been auctioned off.

The Weirs Beach Water Slide, complete with faux volcano and an 18-hole miniature golf course, was sold Friday for $580,000. The city of Laconia had assessed the property at $627,600.

The buyer is a 30-year-old real estate investor from Bedford who said he has been summering in the Weirs Beach area since he was a child.

The investor said the immediate plan is to keep the water slide closed, and he doesn't believe that the property was being used properly, considering its location and traffic. He said he hopes to find someone interested in leasing the property.

The park was owned by Lawrence Baldi III. The Citizen reported that interested parties included Baldi's wife, who recently became owner of the former Weirs Beach Smoke House Restaurant, Lounge & Resort, across the street from the park.

Baldi said she would like to keep the park in her family, but it was unclear if she was at the auction. Just a handful of people placed bids, and the property was sold in about five minutes.

Baldi told the newspaper that the property was being sold as a bank foreclosure, the result of Lawrence Baldi's investment losses in a Meredith firm that suddenly closed last month.

I heard it was going to be another location for "Monkey Trunks". Not sure about that but it would look better than that middle school project of a volcano!

Default Money Trunks

Monkey Trunks is going up over at Funspot where the old Story Land used to be.

http://www.monkeytrunks.com/

and

http://www.funspotnh.com/pc-monkeytrunks.htm

It says on the sign that they're opening May 2011 but when we drive by there it looks like they haven't even started construction. I did notice last weekend that they had a lot of the lumber delivered so I'm guessing it doesn't take long to construct?

Look forward to trying it out though!

Also, the Daytona Fun Park just put in a Sky Trail that looks kind of neat for kids
