Camp Guy, I think you have hit on one of the main issues. As a parent and a resident of a small town, I love the kids on the baseball floats and other similar ones.
I remember thinking when they went by that those kids (and their families) now had lifetime memories that we all cherish and which make a 4th parade so special. It was the predominance of the commercial side that was an issue. I would have liked to see more high school bands, girl scout floats, boy scouts, 4H, etc. The latter few is what was missing. Barbara, please forgive my comment about the lawn chair crew. They are still the highlight of the parade, and I'm sure, worth every penny that each of you make for the effort! ![]() |
