Castle in the clouds?
Do they still have lunch up there? I went last year and it was beautiful, and good food. I was planning on taking people next week but can't find anything about it on their website.

We've been there several times for lunch. The food is very good and the view is spectacular! In the past, there was no admission charge if you told them at the gate that you were going to the cafe.....not going up to the castle. Now I see on their web-site that there is a $5 per person "Grounds Pass Only" charge if you aren't going on the castle tour. Has anyone been to the cafe yet this season? Do they charge you $5 pp just to go up for lunch?

Yes! They have food there! I worked there last summer in the kitchen, and the food is amazing. It's reasonably priced, and we made it fast and good and hot! The view from the patio is amazing. You should def. take a tour of the castle while you still can. It's really an amazing house. You walk through with a guide to answer any questions you have, and everything is just as it was when the house was up and running. SOme local people trying to preserve the castle have donated antiques from that era so it really seems like you're in the castle the time it was built.

1) What do you mean "while you still can" is it supposed to close or something?
2) So, is there a charge at the gate just to eat? |

I ate there a month ago without any entrance fee. But I went in the road that goes to the bottling plant. Located just south of the split of 109 and 171 take Ossipee Park Rd. Just keep driving past the plant and around Shannon Pond and you end up at the parking for the restaurant located in the carraige house. Very nice. A must do.

I thought of that but I'd like to know about the gate entrance. Besides I personally think it's a nicer ride up.

We've been twice this year and the food is still fantastic. We always take the bottling plant road, but if you've never been up the main entrance road, it's worth the money.

Reservations
We were told at the door last week that we need reservations for the Jazz dinner on thursdays.
I do not know if that is the policy for other nights, you might want to check. We have them for tonight though, anyone know whats on the Tapas menu? |

Last year when we were there, we stopped at the main gate and told them we were going to lunch there. The woman told us if we went through that entrance there would be a fee, but that we could use the bottling plant entrance if we were going to the restaurant.
