Downy Woodpeckers feeding each other
They were so cute I had to get video of them. Sorry for the shaky video, I can't hold the camera straight and then I tried to get a little closer to the window.

You were so lucky to be able to record them feeding. Do you know if that is an adult feeding a juvenile or two adults? It's an awesome video. Aren't they just the cutest?

Thanks Pam - I'm not really sure which is which but we've been seeing them feed each other for about 2 weeks now and I was just recently able to get the video.
Last night they were doing so while we were out on the deck watching so they're getting braver. I am starting to guess that it may be the male feeding the female as a mating ritual?? It's awfully cute though because each time "she" gets fed, "she" chirps a "Thank you". I'm going to try to get a much better video next time so we can hear them talk instead of the television in the background. |
