Has anyone recently had anything taken from their island property, especially in the Gilford area? Some tools were stolen last weekend from my property which is under construction. Just curious if this was an isolated instance or if others have experienced similar problems in the past...My contractor said that he has never had a problem on the islands.

I think anyone who breaks in and robs anyone should be made to pay for any damages to the property and replace anything that was taken!!
Don't turn them over to the court system, that costs the taxpayers to much and don't send them to jail, that cost the taxpayers to much! I have been a victum 3 times now! The guys where caught each time, this is good, but, they end up in the court system and they get off with a slap on the hand and the victum is left with the repairs and replacement of the items stolen! For the victum, it does not make for a good day! OH! if you are lucky, you might get some of your stuff back! If I was an law offical, this is how I would handle the case! Not only do you have the feeling of your area being invaded but also you keep thinking, will it happen AGAIN? I hope they catch those fools!!! cp |

Friday after Thanksgiving in 2000 when it was very quiet on the lake. Someone kicked in the shed our builders were using for tool storage and made off with some nail guns and other tools. Only things that were easy to quickly grab and go. Missed/left the brand new compressor under the house, for example....Only time our builders had a theft in many years working on the islands. Unfortunately, you're not immune from petty thieves even on the islands.

The house is still under construction so it is not exactly hard to get in. Ziggy, I am on Mark. Same deal though, compressors and generators were left-they just took skil saws, sawzalls, etc.
