Default Center Harbor

I thought the brick building on the town beach was called the "boat house", not bath house. I've seen the lifeguards using that building. Perhaps they store their equipment and swim lines in there during the off season.

Default I don't think he is asking about the restroom building

the restrooms are in the block building up by the picnic tables. the original poster is asking about the brick building to the right of the beach (facing the lake)

I believe it is a Lifeboat House. There is a ramp going down to the water.

Back in the day, a small group of transplanted scandanavians built that bath house for their wood stove heated sauna. Used to be, it was not uncommon to see the locals venturing out from that hot sauna, out onto the ice, and take the plunge through a big hole cut into the icy cold water, and then hopping back into the sauna. It used to be a Centre Harbor tradition, and not a bad way to ward off those winter time blahs.......

Default Brick Building

I believe you will find that was built as part of the Dane Estate, used to house small boats.

Thanks WBB. The Dane connection gives me another avenue to investigate.

I believe WeirsBeachBoater has it fairly correct. I have been around the area for 45 years and thats pretty much what I recall about the boathouse's history. I think the town of Center Harbor use's it now.
