If anyone is interested in a very serious hovercraft, this is the deal of the century. Perfect for island construction work:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=110806696310 Note, this is NOT an airboat and it is not a toy. I'm not selling it, but I have an identical HC in Meredith and there are at least 5 smaller models on our lake made by the same company, Hovertechnics. They have been building rugged hovercraft since the early 80's. Here is a great video of the actual Hoverguard 1000 that the Michigan FD is selling. http://www.history.com/flash/VideoPl...id=32956067901 This Hoverguard 1000 starts at 1min36sec and runs to 3:53 it starts again at 4:45 and runs to 8:14, the end. The reason this is such deal is that the Michigan fire department that owns it, took it off the market for 6 months, so that a private group in Meredith/Laconia/Gilford could buy it and then donate it to the Gilford FD. Unfortunately, a change of command at the Gilford FD declined the donation and the Michigan chief has to move it quickly! 12 hours driving to Michigan. Email your phone number to me, if you have any technical Questions. The Maine Marine Patrol and the Maine Warden Service, purchased an identical HC last month for $90,000. If you go through the ice this winter - you're on your own. Sorry, we tried very hard to get a local FD to operate this on Winni for winter rescue. We failed! Nobody would accept this HC, (including maintenance and training) as a donation... Last edited by 2islandboy; 01-16-2012 at 06:38 PM. Reason: new info |

Gilfords loss.I can't believe the speed doubles on ice. 60 mph that is fast.
