Arrow Ken 'Spider' Osgood

A laconia legend. Spider of Shore Diner and a great clock repairer.

My brother Ashley would talk about Spider - he was a legend! My deepest sympathy to the Osgood family...

Default A lakes region legend

Ken ”Spider” Osgood counts money at the counter (a $2 bill is seen on top). He has two paper bags beside him. He wears a white T-shirt. Boxing gloves are positioned in front of hiim. A cash register is at the end of the counter. In the far background is the entrance to the dinette section of the restaurant with a waitress in the back. A pie safe or freezer is behind Spider.

Default Fond Memories of Spider

Here is a another link to a video of Spider in action.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR1Z99XgQew

After the bars closed the only place to get a bite to eat was Paul's Diner.(Now the Union Diner) Spider would put on a show for the hardly sober bunch. Ah, I remember it fondly.

Spider was a real performer !We used to go to Paul's diner when we were in highschool just to watch in amazement his lightning speed and he always turned out a great meal.

Default Great manual dexterity

We would drive up from Alton in the early 70's just to watch him work.

If you were sitting at the counter, and had a pocket in your shirt, he would fire all your silverware into your pocket as he walked down the line. I never saw him miss.

He was very impressive to watch as he worked. Fast, but very accurate!

Default Spider

...and he had eyes in the back of his head. If someone pulled out a cigarette at the counter he had a match in their face before they blinked.

RIP Spider
