Has anyone seen any loons with babies yet this year?

It is too early for the babies. We will see them the first of July. Ours haven't even nested yet, but I have seen them looking for a spot.

Loons just off Lake Shore Park this morning
Bit of a "long shot" with the lens at full zoom, so these are pretty heavily cropped versions of the full picture.
These two where pretty entertaining. Lot's of dancing and showing off! I'll post some more to the Photo Gallery later today, after I can take some time to edit them a little.

Loons -
I was at Lake Shore Park to try some sunrise pictures... that didn't work out well, but I got to see three loons.
It was interesting, I could hear a loon calling, and finally spotted it way out in the lake. Next I heard another loon calling.. it was like it was answering or echoing the loon I could see. Eventually the other loon showed up, and shortly a third loon started calling, the two I could see were responding to the third bird. They all ended up together right off Long Beach. They all stayed together and eventually headed back across the lake toward Welch as a group.

The pair of loons on the MnBound cam only had one egg hatch this year. The little one is doing fine.

Mama Loon on a floating nest
Near one of our favorite places to hang out on the lake, there is a floating nest with an arch over the nest to protect the nest from predators. Mama has been on the nest for at least two weeks....Dad keeps swimming around the area. He was actually hilarious today, kept rolling over on his back kicking his feet up in the air. What a hoot. Tried to get a video with my phone, but he was just too far away.
Hope they are successful. Last year they had a single chick we watched grow up over the summer. Almost felt like part of the family.
