Default Miss Winni

My brother use to drive the Miss Winni's back in the late 60's. At the time they were touted as the fastest boats on the lake, probably going no more than 45 mph. He said they use to have a predetermined run that took them to a special point on Mark or Timber Island that had a steep drop-off from the shore where they would run full bore toward the island and then turn off at the last minute. He loved to hear the screams from the passengers (no 150 ft rules back then).

One summer night he had his bachelor party under the Gardens where they kept the boats, which I attended. After way too many drinks we got the bright idea to take the Miss Winni out to watch the fireworks off of Weirs beach. Loaded at least 15 - 20 people on the boat and started to head out when, luckily the marine patrol came up to us to "encourage" us back in to the docks. Also luckily my brother knew the patrolman and the patrolman knew the Irwins (Miss Winni owners) so there were no charges, though my brother caught plenty of "ship" from the Irwins the next day. Not too bad though since he was quitting after getting married the next weekend.
