I am finding that unless one actually lives there, then questions are pretty much dissed, no matter the interest or history.
This is sad to me, because I really do care. I thought this forum was for, and about, people who care about the lakes region. SOme have responded to my posts....and thanks.

A tiny bit paranoid, aren't we Lady Di? You said the same kind of thing in this post back in April. From what I've seen people here love to help out, no matter who posts the question. When I look back on your messages I think you were welcomed very warmly here. I also get the sense that the people here are from all over and most don't live at the lake. I don't.
You don't always get a reply on this kind of forum. Don't take it so personal. Just throw in your $.02 and move on.

I am not exactly sure which question you are referring to, but I did notice one of your posts that I'd be happy to respond to.
Regarding Huggins Hospital, I have only ever had the best (that is a relative term when requiring a trip to the hospital) service there. Now I have no way of knowing the possible near tragic circumstances during your unfortunate situation there, but I would caution against making blanket statements about the entire hospital with regard to one specific incident. I have only ever had the occasion to visit the hospital because of stupid kid mistakes, but I believe that Wolfeboro is quite lucky to have a hospital where locals can have their health needs attended to and remain close for family visits. My fear of your repeated less than favorable remarks about Huggins Hospital is that someone requiring immediate medical attention may choose to forgo that treatment under the false assumption that Huggins Hospital has no medical value. I would certainly argue this not to be the case. |

I have to agree with frdxplorer. I'm not sure what question you are refering to either. When I look back at your most recent posts, they aren't really questions, rather comments. I would suggest that most of the posters here are not permanent residents of the area and from what I have seen everyone is treated the same. Most questions are responded to quickly. If in doubt check out all the responses to Lcookster. This forum provided more information than any travel guide could. As for your comment about Huggins Hospital, I would be curious as to how many years ago the incident was. I'm sorry you are felling "dissed". If you have a specific question, I'm sure anyone on the forum with information would be pleased to respond. I hope your stay in September is everything you dream it will be and in the meantime, enjoy your visits to the forum as we all do.

I forget that this is more of an informational place......and so I wrongly think that there can be conversations, rather than comments.
As for the Huggins Hospital comments, they were months ago. Doesn't bother me if you bring it up again, as it is more publicity. Amazing that it was such a memorable thread. I am flattered that someone might think what I said would be important, but not enough to keep them from seeking medical help. Give me a break. It was my opinion. Not an edict. Thank you for your good wishes for our vacation. We are looking forward to being there, especially at the best time of year. I am sincerely hoping that the corn at that farm, on RTE. 25 just up the road from Meredith Ctr, is as good as it was last year. 10 ears for $5.....but it was worth it. Stay safe.

Lady Di,
My comments came from the seemingly repeated remarks about Huggins. You are correct that your initial post was months ago. But you may also recall a thread a few days ago regarding a very serious medical emergency in Center Harbor. Your response included the following, "Our daughter, who suffers from Celiac Disease, had a problem many years ago, and the "Doctor" at the hospitall in Wolfeboro, Huggins, would have sent her to her grave." |

What I said is true. He was telling me to feed her saltines, and any........well, there is a lot that I don't need, or want, to go into here. She would have been dead in two weeks, as we were told by a physician at North Shore Babies and Childrens Hospital in Salem, Ma. I hope you never have to go through anything like that, but if you do, I hope you can find a more responsible physician.....one who asks questions, and listens to symptoms. That physician, who shall remain nameless, is no longer with us. May he rest in peace. He told me it was "too difficult" to send specimens to Concord. Young as I was then, and being the good girl I was brought up to be, I accepted that as Gospel. It was only when my daughter was so sick she couldn't stand......and at that time.....think Biafra.....and my sister, who was a nurse at aforementioned hospital, said we should bring her there. Yes.....it was a long time ago. However, I have heard other things about medical "mistakes" at this hospital, and if I still lived in the Lakes Region, I would make sure I hurried to LRGH, if I needed anything. The last, LAST, thing I want to do here, is alienate anyone. I am just telling it like it was. If you want to know more about the seriousness of CELIAC......type it in, and read what's up. Thanks to the Salem Dr. our daughter is going to be 40 very beautiful years old in August, and works for the U.S. Gov't. ![]() Oh......and BTW.......I think I was concerned about what a "febrile seizure" is...and asked what the person's name was, so I could say a prayer. Did you remember to add that in your post?
