I never said it was illegal to have a beer, I simply stated that I would feel better knowing the approaching driver was not drinking a beer. And I would.

I believe the beer should come out after the cover goes on, at least for the driver of the boat.

One beer would not affect 95% of the drivers. I get concerned when one beer turns to two, turns to six.

I'm with you, beer should not be allowed.
Please don't take my rum away though.
I've had many of those and still managed to get back to home port.
But my wife is driving not me
