We had lunch at The Mug by the Bay a few weeks back. Food was good, inside the place looks amazing, the menu is limited to wraps, burgers and pizza for lunch. Looks like they have a full breakfast menu.

Just this past weekend, we went to Mug by the bay for breakfast...My feeling on the place are mixed.
The Cons: -- I thought the prices where a bit high... Not horible, but high. -- They didn't have breakfast staples such as Home fires, and there potato pancake was very bland -- another lacking breakfast staple noticably missing was Hash (a favorite of mine) -- they didn't seem to offer fresh bakery items The Pros -- The place had a very nice atmosphere to it, and the Staff was very polite and attentive -- There meat lovers breakfast wrap was stuffed full of meat, and was very tasty -- there portion size was right In my mind the Mug by the bay hit there target audience, upper middle class vacationers, and will probably do just ok. Other options, are the Center Harbor Diner just up the road, and The Bay Gulls Bagels... Both of which have good reputations.... Over all my favorite in Center Harbor, is the The Bay Gulls Bagels... While there pricing seems a bit high, I have never be disappointed....

We also had breakfast at The Mug during our stay. Food was good, staff attentive, prices a little high. However, my favorite is the Center Harbor Diner just a short walk up from The Mug. A little rundown looking from the outside but the food is great.

The Mug is the "nicest" place, the Diner is an inexpensive diamond in the rough and Baygulls has superb bagels. The choice really depends on what you want.

I think DB01 mentioned ...getting there by boat. That means Walking to the diner. That's a Really important factor for us Old Farts.
![]() PS: Walking to Mame's from the town docks in Meridith is a BIG chore for me in my declining years. Less walking is GOOD. |
