Default not really

I miss October market also. There is a mini-mart in the Mobil station and a Cumberland farms for some things otherwise you've got to go through the lights and dock areas which is a pain.

I heard a rumor about Trader Joe's opening up there but st6rictly a rumor.

Default ...mindless Meredith scuttlebutt

Anyone else hear that the Brook's in Meredith which is located between two very large and vacant retail spaces will not be renewing their lease due to a whopper rent increase. Plus, the Rite Aid at the Rt 104-Province Commons has a closing-inventory sell-off going on now. Is there a future Wal-Mart in the cards for Meredith, somewhere? I do doubt it, but hey, just close your eyes and picture a Super Wal-Mart built on the Rt 25 site formerly home for 25+ years to Parafunalia, Ben Franklin, Heaths Super, Oct Farm, Heath's Hdwe, & Phu Gee. What a central spot, plus it would be a Wal-Mart accessible by my yacht! "Good show wmt, green yachting binoculars, complete with a yachting green binocular holder, to keep them secure when the chop gets choppy, and only $4.94 at u-know-where!"

Default Speaking of....

I'm glad you brought up ParaFunalia. Can anyone confirm another Rumor for me? A sunglass Factory Rep told me they were opening another store up in the Center Harbor area. Rightly so they feel like they still need to be on that side of the lake.

If you're willing to drive another 10 minutes to Centre Harbor there is EM Heath. It's across from the town docks. There is a NH liquor store in the plaza just like Jackson's in Meredith. Two other less expensive options are Shaw's (at the bottom of Paugus bay) and Hannaford (in the Wal-Mart plaza in Gilford). Both of these locations are truly not that far a ride from Meredith (maybe 25 min. max).

Default It depends!

Shaws is usually my choice for a full shopping. However, when your lakeside making Mudslides on a Saturday afternoon and you run out of milk 25 min seems like an eternity.

There's your problem right there, diluting perfectly good mudslides with milk ! Vodka, Kahlua and Baileys ... no need for milk

I hadn't heard that but I sure hope so. I love that place. I bought all kinds of parafunalia there over the years and was bummed when they left Meredith. The Gilford store is nice but it may as well be at the other end of the earth from me in the summer traffic.

Default Parafunalia

Spoke with Paul @ Parafunalia @ pretty good length last weekend. I remember buying basketball shoes @ the Meredith store back when I was in second grade about 25 years ago. I have gotten to know him and his family a little over the years.
Told him I was disappointed that they were off that side of the lake, as Gilford is a 15+ minute ride even w/ no traffic. He says they did it partly for real estate related issues (rent, landlord forcing them to stay open year round, etc.) but that a lot of it has to do with his family, who is very involved in the business. He and his wife's kids are now having kids and want to spend a little more time with their families, take off to Florida during the winter, etc.
So I guess I would be surprised if he wouldn't have teased me with the Center Harbor possibility or if they would consider a CH location given the family explanation. Besides, I think the business would be even spottier in Center Harbor than in Meredith...
