I'm using a class 2 in the field cam.. not a bad idea to try one of my spare class 10's to see if it actually makes a difference. Thx

Trail Cam caught just 2 frames of this creature.. doesn't look like any of the very few dogs in our neighborhood.. Coydog?

I'd say it's a coyote. Different than a coydog. Most of the wildlife experts will give you a lot of reasons why interbreeding between coyotes and dogs, while possible, is really very uncommon.

Looks like a coyote with a real bad mange... Coyotes have large bushy tails, this one has no tail to speak of which is the first hair to go when mange is involved. Looks like the front half of his body is missing all it's fur as well... Doubt this one makes it much longer...

Dan, It does look like a coyote after I did a little online research. I hope it's just the lousy resolution on the trail cam after dark (it's infrared as opposed to a flash) is responsible for the lack of detail on the animal.

Hi Steve;

A coyote's tail is normally very large and bushy. Both shots but especially the first, don't show much of a tail but it does show a small string like tail missing most of the hair, this exactly what mange does.

Mange is the #1 killer of coyote's as well as foxes here in the Northeast.

Like you, I will hope for the best and blame the camera.

Yeah -- that coyote is missing a lot of hair. I had an adult fox with full-blown mange cross the road in front of my car last year in broad daylight. It was completely hairless and in obvious distress. Sad.

You need to get a good outdoor security camera (something like ishoot308 has). Set it up to record when there is motion and then we can see these weird looking animals that you have in your backyard.
Upload the video to youtube and then let us know when you do it.
Tiny elephants and strange looking creatures will be a big hit on youtube.

Stoneham ! I grew up next door in Saugus! Man do I miss Toddy's in Wakefield. Anyway.. I'm already "retired" and actively looking to get back to work in the Medical Supplies Sales field.. so a petting zoo is out of the question for the immediate future.

I would love to have a web-cam.. but it would have to be wireless and battery operated. The spot that I would need to set it up is a about 150 feet from any power outlets.
