Default For Less than $750,000

You could own The Gunstock Inn which is being forclosed on 11/19/12, one of the best views on the lake. I wish my friends the Bastilles the best of luck in futures endeavors and ours hearts feel your loss. Another victim to the current economy.

Sad to hear of any local business close.
All are part of what makes this part of the country unique.

If this was a foreclosure it could mean that the debt was too high to continue running the business. As with the Sandwich Store, Robs (Fullers), and more too much debt makes things tank.

Sadly, the reviews of this establishment were mixed on TripAdvisor.

Of course we're sorry to hear about this. The bank is going to have a tough time with this asset on it's hands. One would have thought it might have been better for the mortgagee to try & change the terms of the mortgage agreement to let the current owners hang on. At any rate, from what I've seen, this property really needs a lot of money to be pumped into it to bring it up to snuff and make it competitive on the open market.

One of the saddest parts of this whole deal, the people and school kids who relied on their fabulous salt water pool. The senior aquabobbers, and gilford sharks swimteam ect...

you're right I did sound a little like FLL.....lol

Look at the situation from a positive perspective. Based on the reviews on Tripadvisor, it is clear that these folks didn't have the money to maintain the facility. Hopefully, a new buyer will purchase the facility at a lower price and he/she will be able to offer a better product to the market. This is the way capitalism is supposed to work. Yes it can be sad but unfortunately it is necessary.

...just wondering about their swim pool......a salt water pool? .....is it indoors? .....and does it have a large pool area that is shallow water and suitable for aqua-Zumba?

The closest pool with aqua-Zumba is way over in Madison at the Purity Springs Resort, and the lakes region could probably support an aqua-Zumba venue.

I know the Windrifter Resort in Wolfeboro has a salt water pool. But I don't think there is a Aqua-Zumba class. Whatever that is?
Maybe someone could start one?

I've been a member of the Windrifter Resort since 1999 and I've never seen a salt water pool there. To the best of my knowledge, they have one indoor pool which was completely overhauled two years ago and it's not salt water. Granted, I haven't been to the pool for a few years now since I'm downtown at the yacht club; why drive up to the pool when I could just walk out the door and dive into the lake?

I just checked and there's no mention of a salt water pool on their website either.

They probably have a saltwater chlorine generator which is an alternative to conventional chlorine systems.

The pools don't actually contain seawater and are only 8% to 9% as salty.

I understand the saltwater chlorine system is better for your skin and doesn't have the smell of a conventional chlorine pool.

Default Gunstock Inn

I know of two folks that presented great proposals to buy the Gunstock Inn when it was for sale a couple of years ago for $900,000. The bank turned down both proposals. The bank insist that there will be enough liquid assets to cover the mortgage! Today the bank is stuck with a foreclosure of property that requires a lot of fixing up. This is typical of a lot of business properties, the bank can't see the forest from the trees.

How much land goes with the property?

In the mid-90s, that $750,000 would have bought 101± acres that eventually closed the Wolfeboro Airpark.
