The reason they wanted to name storms was to ensure that people pay attention to powerful and or dangerous storms..

Gee, I thought that was the job of the meterologists.

Hype or not, I like "The Weather Channel"...and...I like the idea of them putting a name to a major winter storm.

OMG, I am soooo very envious of the BIG STORM you lucky people up in Mass. and NH are about to get. I am living vicariously through these weather reports. A big snow will be fabulous for everyone!

I've been following this guy for a while now, he's pretty good on his predictions. A little farther south than the big lake, but worth checking out.
