Tastiest Prime Rib

Looking for some recommendations on where your favorite Prime Rib is served in the Lakes region.

I'm talking about the perfectly seasoned, rare, juicy, belly busting, make your cardiologist faint slab of meat for under 30 bucks.

Prime Rib isn't something I eat often, but when I do, and spend 25-30 bucks for it, I want it to be worth the calories, travel time and money.

Any suggestions from the beef lovers out there?

Christmas Island Steak House in Laconia is pretty good. I like T-Bones but the Prime at CI is bigger and less expensive.

I 2nd Christmas Island Steakhouse!...Get the king cut, you won't be disappointed!

Lyon's Den in Gilford next to the Marine Patrol HQ gets my recommendation. Slow-roasted prime ribs is often a special at Lyon's Den. You can call them and ask if it is on the specials menu and make a reservation, too. They honor reservations. This is not just call ahead seating. Friendly service as well in the family owned and run restaurant.

I have Omaha Steak package in freezer, received as Christmas gift. It's waiing for my grilling, which no restaurant can beat.

However, I was in T-B/CJ with some out of town friends a few weeks ago; the prime ribs and steaks others had were very good.
I have not been to CI or Woodshed in long time, so I cannot comment, but used to be very good, especially Woodshed with previous chef & owners, meaning Lyn or before.

We think, and we've heard it from several other people as well, that CJ Avery's in Laconia has the absolute best Prime Rib around.

Are you referring to CJ Avery, just off Elm Street, just before bridge opposite Fratello's? I assume so, and I agree; I have not experienced or heard about them in so long, I don't want to comment and chance be wrong.

My reference was to T-Bones (CJ) Cactus Jack just a little south on Union ave.; merely looking to have no confusion.

Prime rib is not particularly high in calories or fat. It is actually one of the healthier cuts.

So go for the bigger portion, but go easy on the sides

Our family just returned from T-Bones and a few ordered the prime and were very happy with it. The fried clams were also good.
Full disclosure...my wife is a server at TB!

I don't know what Patricks pub seasons with but I think it's too die for...good portion good price.

Village Kitchen on Moultonborough has awesome slow roasted Prime Rib....but only as a special every Saturday night. Can't be beat for the price and portions.

Yes, I was referring to CJ Avery's on Railroad Ave in Lakeport. Great meals and a really great atmosphere. Plus, they have new patio seating!

i'll vote for patricks. love their prime rib.. i think it's a special on fridays.

about cj averys.. a family member was a server there. said it was one of the dirtiest restaurants she's ever worked in, she wouldn't eat there.

On the road across from the Belmont Mall. Excellent prime rib for a very reasonable price. There is a piano for entertainment.

The best prime rib in the Lakes Region to be had is O's in Lakeport, when available.

CJ Avery has great prime ribs. Coming by boat? You can ask any of the marinas nearby if you can park your boat, they are accommodating.

I, too, am a fan of a properly cooked prime rib--in my opinion, medium rare queen or king cut, with horseradish sauce on the side and au jus on the top, garlic mashed potatoes and some steamed carrots with brown sugar glaze.

It is very good at O's in Lakeport but you pay a premium for it. Top of the Town is great as well but not accessible by boat whatsoever--ten minutes from the Winnisquam public boat launch. Lyon's Den has excellent prime rib but you'd be best served to call ahead and have an earlier reservation as they fill up quickly and run out of prime rib in a hurry.

There really is nothing quite like enjoying a nice boat ride to and from dinner, especially when Prime Rib is involved.

I wonder if it is different from the buffet night. We found it to be tough, very tough both times I've had it. I've yet to find a place in this area that gives you a good bang for your buck when it comes to prime rib. but now that I've gotten into using the smoker it is rare that we eat out.

Here's good bang for your buck.I like cooking my own.The best way to cook it imo is with a Ron Popeill "Set it an forget it" Showtime rotisserie.Comes out perfect every time.Just set and forget it.

.What's different from most restaurants is the rotisserie technique.A nice self basting crust around the whole prime rib.

For Prime Rib I will go to Christmas Island or Top Of The Town.When we go to O Steakhouse I usually will get the Cowboy (bone in rib) or the bone in of the week with lobster mashed potatoes.

I've been to a few places in the lakes regions and my favorite is still Ciao pasta in Northfield or Franklin. Its the most tender piece I've had in the area. I always get medium rare with alittle extra au jus.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Christmas Island seems to keep popping up, so thats a definite try sometime. My brother in law says O's has a great prime rib also.

Was at Ellacoya the other night and it was on special. I ordered it, and well, lets just say the search continues.

Visited Lions Den in Glendale last night. Emoted great Prime Rib and super service. We got lucky and got the last table to be reserved. Reservations recommended on Friday and Saturday evenings. Kassiwi
