Default G-Island Bridge Crash overnight

My thoughts are with those injured last night. A quick scan online makes it appears a two vessel crash happened southside of Governor's Island Bridge, a no wake zone, Barry Myers, 50, of Dracut is accused of destroying boats and lives. He has a prior DWI arrest listed in 1/2010 and was charged with bwi last night. Be safe.

When I went by last night 2 marine patrol boats were WAY south of the no wake zone.. So not sure if it actually took place in or out of that area.
There were two ambulances and a fire ruck set up as well at the GI bridge. Didn't look good.. Hope everyone is ok.. Not good boating and driving!!

I've just checked my Bizer Chart. The south side of the GI bridge is NOT a no wake zone. The north side is. I'm a newbie on Winni, so others might want to chime in here.

Just curious, were the boats traveling in opposite directions or the same direction?

LACONIA - A judge overseeing lawsuits filed by all five people involved in a 2013 collision between two pleasure boats on Lake Winnipesaukee has granted a $250,000 attachment against one of the drivers, finding he lacks sufficient assets to satisfy a potential civil judgment against him.

Barry Myers of Dracut, Mass., who also owns a cottage in Alton, avoided a boating while intoxicated conviction after the crash between his 21-foot Chaparral named "Pour Again!" and a 26-foot Formula Sunspot being driven by veterinarian Brenda Stowe of Gilford...

...While Myers was not convicted of [the BWI charge], his driving privileges were suspended for two years after an Administrative License Suspension hearing before the N.H. Department of Safety, under the implied consent law for refusing to submit to a breath test after his arrest the night of the accident.

I always thought South was shoreline and North side was Gov Island. The Channel approach to GI is East /West.

Default Kind of a semantics thing.

I believe that he is talking North side as being the Weirs side of the bridge, and South side as being the Alton side of the bridge.

I tend to do the same thing, while the direction may be off a bit.

Default Any update or findings?

Not to dwell on misfortunes, but I like to understand the "What happened?" aspects of these incidents, especially when they're in an area I know, and frequent, and seem unusual.

This occurred in an area that gets conjested, but does not regularly produce accidents. I've been on that bay for 20+ years, but only a couple weeks per summer, so I don't have the full season viewpoint.

Re: "No Wake Zone"

'No Wake' rules extend 150' from bridges, shorelines and other details.

Regardless of speed, that passage is too narrow for power boats wider than a canoe, to safely pass through at the same time. It looks wide enough from a distance but when you are in it, you see the channel is dug/blasted from rock and is not generous. The edges have teeth!
