It's amazing to me how a thread can degenerate sooo fast.... I get that Lady had a bad experience.... It doesn't matter what restaurant you go to, they cannot please everyone. I agree with Bobby Lobster that in this day & age with internet everywhere, a bad review can seriously damage a business, regardless of what business you are in.
I go to the Lob Pound on a very regular basis! I do love it there! I don't eat fish (I have a rule.... I don't eat fish, fish don't eat me!) But I do enjoy their Pizza a lot as well as their Italian specials! I have seen the good and the not so good.... BUT in every instance, The Lob Pound staff, be it the waitress, Bobby Lobster or the owners have tried to make it right. I love the place and I think they are a GREAT addition to the Weirs! Woodsy

"Maine Lobster" describes the home-waters of the crustacean, not the fisherman.
And, it's mostly a marketing gimmick anyway.

Seems like Maine lobsters bought in Mass is pretty steep! Or maybe it is the time of year you buy the critters.
Third week in July, right off the boat in Kennebunk harbor, I was able to purchase 8 hard shell chix lobsters at $2.99 a lbs. They were excellent, filled with meat! I cook it myself as most people like their lobster meat very firm, almost rubbery.

He showed his invoice, what else is there to do? We're talking about his source of supply now?

Also, has anyone verified the counts, assuming the invoice is legit? He *says* he bought that many lobsters, but all we have to go on is this piece of paper. This whole invoice thing is very shady to me. It lists the customer as "Weirs Beach", that could be anyone. Can a Beach even *buy* products? Also, can anyone verify the rumor that the Lobster Pound is going to start disallowing children in the main dining room?

the prices seem to be on par with other restaurants in the area except of course the 4.00 Wendy's meal. if I can get a good meal with a couple of drinks and a night out for my family of three for 100.00 plus tip I would call it a win...I just would not order the lobster if it was out of my price range...not that it is ..I just don't order lobster at a restaurant because I eat it like a raccoon eats the trash and would need a shower afterwards!!!!!!

I forgot to mention, but the $4.00 meal at Wendys was for both the wife and myself. Kudos to FLL.

I do not save receipts, but the next visit, I will save it. Here is the breakdown: my wife has the small chilli ($1.69 I think) no chesse just crackers; I have the $.99 chicken sandwich and value fries; I get one senior drink (we could get two but one is plenty) they are free. Altogether it I now eat to live, not live to eat.is under $4.00 but the tax (love it) comes to an even $4.00.
The last time I had a $50.00 meal was about 25 years ago at a place in Maine on the ocean. Not sure of the name. |

You had fries from Mcdonald? WOW! Prepare to meet the maker! All the fast food chains uses hydrogenated oils for frying. I'd rather eat a $20 boiled lobster than the new 'coffin nails', McDonalds fries.
You better have a direct line to CMC.

I just happen to drive by the dumpster at a McDonald and stop to read the side of the box that actually says 'hydrogenated vegetable oil'. I knew the fast food chains will say otherwise.
I always use cold pressed olive oil for all low temperature cooking and preparations. I use safflower or grapeseed oil for frying and searing.

one benefit of grapeseed oil is the high smoke point it has .

in the end a restaurant charges what it wants and consumers decide whether to go there or not not seems pretty simple to me

Quick reply to the person who said supermarkets do a bad job of cooking lobsters. Market Basket has a special steamer and they've been perfect each of the 5 or 6 times I've had them this summer. Certainly worth a try!
