Broken Glass in the Lake

I had never noticed broken glass until the grandchildren discovered some well rounded pieces. Now they make a game of searching along the shore and also a little further out with dive masks on. Each visit they find some more and add it to their "collections". Bragging rights to the the best assortment of colors.

When we first bought our lakefront property, we had a couple of years of discovering old bottles and broken glass in the lake. We believe there was some kind of dump near the shore. We also have a collection of the bottles that were whole, or mostly whole that we found- they're obviously antique bottles. It was a little hazardous for a while, but we haven't found any new glass in recent years. Interesting that it's so common.
