Question Did you hear any loons?

Lady Di, I'm sorry I missed you when you dropped by to say hello the other day. I usually don't arrive at work until 11:00 AM, and it sounds as though I just missed you.

I hope you enjoyed your stay at BirchKnoll. The family who own and operate that property seem to do a lovely job, and their guests always rave about their stay.

Did you get to hear any loons?????????????

Hi Pepper.

We JUST missed you by about 15 minutes, I think. We were on our way to M'chester. Rates at Birchknoll were about to double for NASCAR weekend, so we had to leave early. And the drizzly weather made for a very sad departure. It's amazing how quickly the time went by.

No, sadly didn't get to hear any loons this trip. Some years back we spent a week on Lovell Lake in Sanbornville, right on the water, and we heard them every night at dusk, but mostly at 5 a.m. as they swam right by the bedroom window. They are so beautiful. First time I ever heard one was when my family was staying at White Lake State Park in Tamworth. Dad and I were walking to the beach at dusk, and the wail made my hair stand on end. I asked Dad what that was, and when he told me it was a loon, I thought he meant a "loonie" and was even MORE afraid. Thanks for asking. We sat out front at the Birchknoll every evening, just listening, but no such luck. I will have to be satisfied with my little stuffed loon with the squeeze box.

I couldn't believe how gorgeous the weather was when we arrived last SUnday, the 11th. Perfect. One of those days that makes me wish I still lived there, and that's good, because if I DID still live there, I wouldn't feel the same. Make sense? Get out before the snow fly s, I say.

We did all the things we wanted to do, including going to the coast, eating at Newick's..........my son and the baby were with us that day. What a good day we had. Hubby had to have his Hart's fix, so we did that the last night.
I pick up the pictures later today. Can't wait to see the ones of the baby's party. AND...........I can't wait til next year when we get to visit again.

I missed the ForumFest by one day, but enjoy looking at the pictures. Pepper, are you in the front row on the left?

AcresPerSecond...........enjoyed your wail, yodel, tremolo and hoot. I saw those clocks that you mentioned, and also a "loon flute" that looked pretty interesting, but not for $15!!!!

It's nice to go away, but it's good to be home. (well, it will be when it's cooler............)
