Planning a vacation in the summer and need some help. How is this lake for swimming boating? How far is it from the center of town in Lake Winnipesaukee. Looking to rent a house right on the lake. I am from NY and we are used to lake George. Please need help planning activities for kids too.

Lake Winona is a small lake NW of Meredith NH. It is 148 acres in size, average depth is 17 ft. Here is a link to NH F&G map of lake. Note the boat launch is gravel and listed as limited.
http://www.wildnh.com/Fishing/bathy_...newhampton.pdf In comparison, Saratoga Lake in NY is 44 square miles in size while Lake Winona is less than one square mile in area (1 sq mile is 160 acres). Not sure what you have for a boat, and what boating activities you are looking to be able to do. A good comparison is Lake Winnipesaukee and Lake George. Similar size. Welcome to the forum.

I think a vacation would be very quiet on Winona and if that is what you are looking for it would be great. Howerver, many people would get bored and want the increased options that a larger lake offers. |

I was simply responding to the original poster who has experience on Lake George. If they are looking for a lake that is similar to Lake George, Lake Winona is not the ticket. To further help them in a comparison, I took another lake in Upstate NY that they may be familiar with, so they would have a better idea of what Lake Winona is like. Not sure how much waterskiing can be done on Winona, for instance, whereas that is not a problem on Lake George or Winni. Comparing Lake George to Winni, and the expense you encountered, well, let's just say that when we were able to sell our house and leave Clifton Park (son graduated a SUNY college), we did and moved back to a significantly cheaper NH. ![]() ![]() Back to our regularly scheduled program. Anyone have experience for these folks re: Lake Winona.
