Here's wishing good luck to all "derby doers" 2014!!
I'll be out there with friends and family for both days trying to hook that giant fish for the derby board! We have been having very good luck the past few weekends at our bob house spot so hopefully one of us will get lucky! In all honesty, we do the derby for fun, family, camaraderie and to support the Rotary. If we get a fish to board, great, if not, great!! It's always a fun time! Good luck to all! Dan

The fog on the ice this morning just after sunrise was amazing. hanging over the surface for as far as I could see.
This was taken at LSP, where a few unfortunate ice fishermen had some problems with their sled. (Does swearing at a busted sled help?)

We had a great derby weekend! There were four of us who fished both days. While we didn't get anything to put on the bragging board, (almost!) we did catch a lot fish and just had a great time overall.
Total fish tally for the weekend was 29 Lake Trout with the largest being 22 1/2"(we kept one), 2 nice cusk both around 25", 1 large mouth bass fairly good sized, 1 salmon cut off at the hole and one monster white perch that I brought to the board at Derby Headquarters that was actually the same length as the winning fish at 15 1/4" long but was shy in weight at only 2.2 lbs. which gave me the "thanks for coming" prize! ![]() Some pics below... I just added the last pic below. This is a laker that needs to see a good chiropractor! ![]() Dan

It looked like everyone was having a great time. Weather was excellent!
Here are a few pictures from each category, gives you an idea of how big each fish was... |

When we looked at the board at 3pm we thought that the top pickerel was pretty big. On the 6pm news they showed an 11 year old boy who caught it winning the $15,000 prize.

I was at Meredith Bay for the last two events (hockey and derby) and was wondering what was the point of the LOCKED dumpsters in the parking lot. I policed my area and also did a big surrounding area around my bobhouse, and was discouraged to see the dumpsters were locked. I couldn't help but notice all the trash on the ice and parking lot. Why not even have trash cans on the ice, they would have been used. Just sayin....

Looks like all had a good time. Looking at the fish makes me want to e on the lake even more.
Oh well, spring is just around the corner and then the boat can go in and trolling season can start. ToW |
