Last season, I saw five of 'em pulled up on a private beach—but in Tuftonboro. Maybe someone can re-discover that deliberately sunk rowboat off Carry Beach's markers. (Filled with rocks).

What a great way to explore Lake Winnipesaukee's many bays, harbors, inlets and coves. Wish I'd thought of 'em years ago—before the lake turned colder.

www.parafunalia.com is giving free S.U.P. lessons on Saturday morning, somewhere in Gilford, like maybe at Ellecoya state beach, or for about 30-35-dollars, u can attend a 90-minute yoga S.U.P. class in either Meredith or Center Harbor.

I personally feel too old and perhaps out of shape for stand up paddle boarding but I thought it was an OK article because I know a few " 20 somethings" that would love to go to Wolfeboro and try it out! I'll watch from my kayak

On Monday mornings, once the weather warms up, like from 7:30-9am or so, the Sacred Waters yoga school, teams up with the Ekal activity center, which are both in the same building but on different floors, located between the Inn at Church Point and the Town Docks restaurant directly on the water, and runs a weekly stand-up paddleboard class with an instructor, where you do about an 1 1/2 hour of yoga out in Meredith Bay on your stand-up paddleboard ........ namaste........splish-splash!

I went to one of these classes last June held in Center Harbor on a Thursday afternoon or sometime, on Center Harbor Bay, at the Wild Meadow kayak store, and it was pretty challenging, trying to go from the plank to the warrior pose to the downward dog or something, and stay up and balanced on the board.

The teacher, Lori Card, had real good communication skills and was a very motivated and energetic teacher, and I recommend it to anyone.

You should try it. It is easy. I tried it last summer with no problem. It is a lot of fun.

We have a couple of old (good shape) wind surfing boards (without the sails) that would be good as paddle boards that you could have for $50 each.

They are under our cottage in Lake Shore Park in Gilford. PM me if interested in looking at them.

Do you have any idea as to how much a used Versa Board might cost?

It looks like a new one cost around $900.00.

I picked up two Burton boards, yes Burton makes them but are well over a grand, on Craigslist for $300. I thought they may be stolen, the prior owners lost their home in a foreclosure and were force to sell everything! I even picked up a brand new in the box M-Series 60" Vizio LED TV for $500!

Seems like folks thought the ad was too good to be true. I'm glad I looked into it. A really nice couple who lost their home in Moultonboro.

Yes, that's what we paid for ours a couple of years ago. I'm pretty sure their changeable sign mentions used ones available.

Just a note that these are from Burton Rowing fame, not Burton Snowboards.

I have to agree with Maxum on this one. I just don't understand the point; the original idea was to use wind and rollers on the ocean to propel you around to different areas. Using them on lakes and rivers seems pointless. You can't carry anything with you, so use as a mode a travel or transport seems limited.

I see these going the way of Wind Surfing Boards, everyone wanted to say they had one, but nobody ever really learned how to use them and now you can buy ones that have been sitting under someones cottage for years on the cheap.

I can see the use as a part of a workout, being that your core would be engaged the entire time, but the pace most often observed is quite a stretch from workout level.

I would think that if you truly want a work out, plus take advantage if wind/waves the only place on the Lake to SUP would be off Rattlesnake when the water's feelin' fiesty. Otherwise - I am not impressed.

The CG Auxiliary is gearing up for another season to public education. To clarify an issue I called NHMP and threw them a curve ball. Since sailboards are exempt from the manditory PFD rule, where does a paddle board stand? (no pun intended)

They treated me great and explained that the sailboard exemption was for sailboards only and a paddle board is like a rowboat or kayak and requires one coast guard approved PFD for every person on board. It does not have to be worn unless if the person is 12 years old or younger. Adults using a type IV must be wearing it to count.

In addition the vessel must display one 360 degree white light while underway between sunset and sunrise.

It makes sence.

It makes sense everyone should wear a Type IV vest on any recreational craft. I have seen far too many near drowning on The Broads because someone in a paddle or sail craft did not have a life preserver.

I see many SUPers out there with no vest. Now it looks like the NHMP will start enforcing the rules?

Lake Winnisquam is perfect for SUPs. No big waves and the lake is narrow enough that East or Westerly winds do not create large waves. North or South Winds however create good size waves in the large section of the lake.
