Does anyone know the wind speed of that blow? We were caught in that storm in our sail boat. We were up at Fays in the a.m. having some rigging work done and stopped by Rattlesnake to see family on the way back to Wolfeboro. The storm hit us just outside Wolfeboro Bay and we had to make an emergency stop at Goodhue and Hawkins. Never seen anything like it. Moored boats were actually keeling over in the wind. Rain felt like needles on skin. Glad we lived to tell the tale.

Yesterday's severe weather was well forecast, with numerous outlets including the media, facebook, and twitter warning of the likelihood of severe weather all day long. Someone was just saying to me the other day that we hadn't had any thunderstorms yet....well now we have. The summer is officially here! Be safe out there, Cate, especially with that giant lightning rod right in the middle of your sailboat.

The power was out in a large portion Gilford in the Dockham Shore Road area from about Silver Sands Marina to the Laconia Airport. The outage lasted from 4 PM until about 4 AM. There were multiple problems including wires down with tree limbs falling on them and there was a power pole on 11B that broke in half during the storm.
PSNH was there right away but replacing a pole wth all of the associated parties involved (cable, fairpoint, PSNH) is a time consuming job. |

Just had an email from a family member who arrived a few minutes ago and said the power came back on around 6:10 pm. So that's the south loop. Can't say anything for the north side yet.

Is the power still out? I think I hear a generator running. Last nights storm was no where near as bad as the night before.

Was just listening to Nat'l weather and they are predicting a very stiff wind tomorrow in fact they were saying could be up to 4 foot rollers out on the lake so be careful if you venture out. Not the kind of weather to be having with so many here on vacation that have marginal boating skills. Bet MP will be busy! For you folks on Welch if anything got stressed in the thunderstorms the wind tomorrow may be enough to take more trees/limbs down.
If anyone needs any help let me know I have my small chain saw, gas, and bar oil here at the camp and can help cut up some stuff, will be here through Sunday. Good enough for cutting branches and mid sized trees. PM me if you'd like. If you got any big stuff you need help with I will be here again the week of the 14th and can bring my big saw that is good enough to take on pretty much anything. **Legal Disclaimer** Just be aware I am NOT a professional tree guy, but good with a saw ;-) This also isn't a solicitation for work, just offering free neighborly help if needed! |

Is it OK to come out of my hiding place now??? Is the "biblical" storm over yet?

I did call again this morning, the repair is scheduled for tomorrow, 7/9. That would be one full week after the damage. Last edited by Slickcraft; 07-08-2014 at 07:31 AM. Reason: add today's call results |

Fairpoint is not well known for speedy repairs. I had an issue at my home and was told that it would be 10 days due to storm damage etc. When I called back after 11 days and still no service, I was told that due to the amount of lines down in my area it would be at least another 2 weeks. I live 300 wire feet from the hub in Concord, and I can hit the building with a rock from my driveway. After informing them of how close I am amazingly there was a tech there in about 15 minutes. Keep pressure on them, they are trying hard to repair their tarnished image. I do understand that some areas did get hit hard from the storm, but a week is a long stretch. Also report the amount of down time to the puc.
