Old construction
You will notice they did not use as much stringers as they do today. And there is very little insulation and ventilation.
The family cottage was covered with slate roofing. It was heavy but the snow and ice slide right off! Best advise for older construction is a metal roof. This will help the snow and ice slide off better.
