Default Migration

The recent photos are starting to have a late impact on wildlife here in Florida !
Until yesterday our population of Snow Birds had stayed in place and delayed the spring migration north to the summer nesting grounds. Yesterday there was talk around the Florida pools , where the birds gather , about starting the flight north ( lt was also about 90 and the birds are overheating )
They follow rt 95 and 93 north so be on the lookout for the overloaded flock
( they actually drive grand marqueis ) others will return soon but with a Southwest route

Two weeks ago we observed a huge migration on 95 N. in Virginia. They were as thick as molasses. Glad we were headed in the opposite direction, as we were headed for Myrtle Beach. There was a large concentration of the Winnebago species in the flock.

From yesterday....

From the top, BI post office Sunday morning, open water looking back to the mainland.

Ice flow that came in later on in the afternoon, and making may way very slowly out of the ice flow and into open water.

Final shot is from the N/E side of Bear looking across. While that may look pretty solid, by afternoon there was a major crack that opened up about 15 feet wide from Bear all the way to the mainland. Further more sitting along shore I could hear the ice grinding along with major cracking and buckling along the shore.

Fish finder was reporting a surface water temp of 39.1 degrees

Default Shifting winds

Still a lot of ice out there. The wind shift to the NE brought ice in toward Belknap Point this morning spanning the width of the photo. An hour after this photo, the ice sheet was against Belknap Point extending north to Locke's blocking access to Glendale via FL26. Tomorrow afternoon's wind shift to W will bring who knows what.

Default Akwa Marina boat on the shore

Someone should move that little boat on the beach at Akwa Marina. If the wind continues to pile ice on the shore, it will get schmushed.

Either someone moved it or it is already schmushed. I hope someone moved it.

Some one must have moved it ☺

Here is a video of the ice shifting, and make a lot of noise, like a big wind chime

Default Warms my heart to see that image

Thanks for the images. I was getting discouraged looking at my dock which shows no progress for a few days. Now I know it is really happening. There should be some big changes overnight. (my dock is about a mile south east of webssatwinni's dock.

It appears that the ice from Saunders Bay has been blown into Wentworth cove which was ice free on Saturday.
