I normally don't want the spotlight, but I'm making an exception as I'm hoping for some help from my long-time, forum friends.

My wife, Lyn, has always dreamed of attending The Kentucky Derby. There is an opportunity for her to do so in a way that would have incredible meaning for her. But it requires votes...lots of them. Hence my request for help.

You can read her story here, http://survivors.kentuckyderby.com/survivors/1863

If you are so moved, I'd ask you to help by voting early and often. It appears it will take a lot of votes to be considered. Feel free to forward or share far and wide. You can vote every day.

Make it a part of your routine. Shower, coffee, and vote for Lyn! They track the votes by IP address, so you can actually vote twice (or more!) if you vote from home, work, coffee shop, etc.

And thanks in advance to any who vote, whether we make it or not.

What a beautiful photo of Lyn on the front page of The Baysider! So happy to see her be part of the 141 breast cancer survivors shining at Churchill Downs. Congratulations !!!

Thanks for all the nice comments. As we had hoped, this was a trip of a lifetime, and we couldn't have done it without all of you.

I've posted some long-overdue photos in the Photopost Gallery. Also a short video clip here, https://youtu.be/bglIHYXAZko

There were many from these forums who had similar family stories. Who's going next year? We could make it an annual event to send someone from the Winni forums!

Boots - she walked into Tractor Supply in Rochester just before the trip, saw the boots with the pink horses, and knew she'd found the right ones (they recommended that the ladies bring boots for walking on the track.

As for the guy, he found the hat next door at Walmart!

Default Another forum member?

Two years ago, thanks in large part to the members of this forum, we realized a life-long dream of attending the Kentucky Derby in a very meaningful, special way. While it was a trip of a lifetime, and will be in our memories forever, once was enough for us.

But the process is starting this year for others to have the opportunity. Perhaps the forum can send another deserving member?
