sandy point restaurant
Has anyone been to Sandy Point Restaurant recently and had king baked stuffed lobster? Waiting to hear that they have finally mastered it. I guess the new owners don't realize the value of that menu item.

Don't bother going to Sandy Point Resturant they will not let you in.
My wife and I arived at 8:10 PM tonight Sunday July 5th and the sign out front says "open until 9PM". Walked in and the hostess informed us that they were closed there were 20 to 25 people dining in the two rooms we could see. We asked if we could just have a drink and an appetizer at the bar and she replied we are closed. We left and as we were getting in our car a group of 5 or 6 women entered the resturant and they were let in to eat. As we drove away I checked the sign again and it clearly says Wed thru Sunday open until 9 PM. I drove back to the door to tell them about thier sign and they locked the door so we left. I usually give a resturant two strikes but I am tempted to raise the bar so to speak to one. It is so sad as I have been dining at Sandy Point since the 60's when the family would come here for vacation. This place is headed for closure with this kind of service quality.

Ate at Sandy Point on Friday night, had a party of 7. To my surprise the restaurant was not packed. By 8, it had filled in nicely, everyone ordered lobsters, mostly kings all of which were quite tasty, only complaint is they could have been hotter. Steamers were large and excellent, clam chowder was delicious. Overall a very good experience.

thanks for pointing this out as i hadn't looked at either. Whats interesting is there aren't a ton of 2015 reviews but most are positive with some concern with prices which i assume means the baked stuffed lobster. will go next weed and will report back

Late June visit
We went in late June and had very good food. Hubby had the twin lobsters- one stuffed, one just boiled which is not listed on the menu but is available if you ask. Even still it was a lot of food. I had a side salad and bowl of chowder. Everything seemed consistent although the salads have gotten smaller over the years. Warm rolls are great and getting extra rolls is no problem. Service was a little slow but I could tell it was due to new waitstaff. (On the way to the restroom there was a discussion at the bar register about how to enter orders) As far as cost we think it is reasonable. The cost of scallops is getting very high, just check prices at Costco- they just keep going up. All in all, if you get an entree it seems to be a fair price since you also get a salad, rolls, and another side order. Most chain restaurants don't offer this. We plan on going again around Labor Day and have been going here for the past 20 years.

I went 8/6 for my birthday and we were a party of 7. 3 of us had king stuffed lobster and it was great, not too bready or dry stuffing....moist 1 lb of lobster meat is the stuffing in perfect bite sized pieces . We also ordered steamers, fried clams, scallops and fried clams and everything was tasty. This was my first time here and will go back for another special occasion!
