Default 3,2,1, Launch

A couple of years ago we were in a similar situation. Borrowed a slip for 4 weeks in Sept-Oct.

If you don't use it now, how will you know which gadgets to buy at the Boat $how? And, at all those Christmas Office parties, nobody will believe you bought and didn't launch. The boss will question that decision, and that will end your career.

Hold your breath, 3,2,1, LAUNCH!!!

I just tried holding my breath as instructed but nothing happened!?!?!

Seriously, I feel silly after reading my original post...however, the excitement is brewing and I'm really looking forward to my wife and I living our dream in twenty sixteen!

I am not impulsive...however in November 2003 we bought a house on Long Island without having been to the Lake before and in December bought a used 23 foot Sea Ray from Irwins consignment which we only saw in the indoor storage area. We still have both and love the Lake.

Sometimes you just have to go for it. That is often therapy in itself.

Good time of the year to use it for maybe another month when you can just for practice. Lake will be quiet and gives you some "practice" time. Not sure if this is your first or third boat so maybe the practice isn't necessary.

Unfortunately the boat is being winterized and I'm having some work/mods done to it at this time. I'm familiar with a 19' bowrider once owned by my late father-in-law, and my only experience with the new 28 footer was during the sea trial before purchasing. It's going to be a long winter but the anticipation over the next 7 months or so will make it even more enjoyable at launch time next spring.

I look forward to soliciting advice from the folks on this forum as I establish my sea legs with this new class of boat. From my limited experience thus far on this forum my early impression is that you folks are a great group of people and an invaluable resource to boaters of all experience levels.
