We just purchased a home on Cow Island. Does anyone know what companies offer TV/internet services ? I looked through and searched the forums, but could not find any info. Looking forward to island living. Any need to know info that you think would be helpful to new island families would be appreciated. Thanks so much

Start wth fairpoint although that thread says they suck. Apparently others are using it for their island properties, can't confirm they are on Cow island though. I'm sure in a few hours you'll have more responses. |

Depends on your location. You will need south-west visibility. The east side of the island can be tough.
There are some sites that can give you a pretty good idea. http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/customer/dishPointer.jsp http://www.dishpointer.com/ |

We live on Barndoor Island with a SW exposure. We have Directv with great reception and the service they provide has always been great. They will let you freeze your account for the winter with no charge. Pay for the insurance. We've had tree limbs fall on our dish and they come right out and fix it at no charge. We use an AT&T hotspot for wifi and it works fine for our needs.
I would recommend getting a trash compactor. Enjoy island living - it's incredible! |

We use Fairmont DSL for internet on Cow and, depending on which side of Cow you're on, you get either 1.5 Mbps or higher on the west side closer to Little Bear. On busy summer weekends the data rate drops below 1 Mbps for us. So, you can stream video when not busy. We are also fortunate to have a SW sky view and use DirecTV with great results. There are many forum threads on island living if you do a search.
