	 | sandwich notch !!!

my wife and went for a ride thru Sandwich notch, after the cross road and over the river we took a right and were heading to a pond. Along the way there was a triangular piece of metal about 30 inches long x 12 wide hanging from a tree. the placement is over the road so if and when it falls it may hit someone or a car. the next time you go thru the notch bring a hard hat for every one. By your description these devices most likely are glue traps baited to catch the dreaded Emerald Ash borer. The insect flies to the board and sticks to it. Entomologists, foresters and arborists monitor the insect populations in areas. Here in Pa the boards were discontinued as our area is being hit hard by the Borer. State says we may loose 80% of our Ash trees to this pest. |
